A new study by scientists from the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) used computer simulation to rank the reasons for the melting of the Larsen C ice according to their severity.

They were able to simulate the melting patterns of the skin in Larsen C under different air conditions and see how important these factors are. The present study reveals the main cause of skin melting. The second and third major smelters are reported to be warm and dry winds called foehn winds and cloud properties. It has also been pointed out that there are important factors that contribute to these conditions.
