Contiki was founded at WAYYY in 1962 by a Kiwi named John Anderson, who filled a car with young people exploring and traveling in Europe. She didn’t know what she was doing, but they were all excited and wanted to do it again next summer. (It’s a funny story, there’s a book about it).
Now, 60 years later, Contiki travels 350+ tours in 6 countries. One of the great things to know about Contiki is that their tour is only for 18-35 year olds, so you’ll always be looking with people your age, looking for different things. like. They call what they do a ‘community trip,’ which is that they believe travel experiences are better when you’re doing it with a group of new friends. Their tour is facilitated by Trip Managers: who will guide you through a whirlwind tour; but more than that, tour guides become friends, councilors, writers, and city gurus, with a wealth of knowledge on everything you find to do. Having the comfort of a professional by your side really comforted me. They add to everything you have dwelling housetaking and experience, so you can look forward to the fun without any planning!
