Classes for Eastern high school students returned Wednesday, after rocking their community. The shooting killed one young man and two young girls with serious injuries. No doubt staff and students at the school are saddened by the murder on their campus and two of their classmates who suffered serious gunshot wounds.

“We will be grateful,” DMPS Associate Superintendent Matthew Smith said. “We will begin to see more happiness here at school and in our community. But we’re going to do that together. That’s why we love each other and show each other. “

In the aftermath of the disaster, the Eastern community received support from the state and the nation. The hope is that students and staff can begin the healing process.
