The larger the glass, the more light is collected. That way we can see the past with larger mirrors to look at the formation of stars and galaxies, photograph exoplanets accurately, and accurately determine the nature of darkness.

But the process of making the glass is complicated and time consuming. There is the throwing of the hollow glass to get the original shape. Then you need to strengthen the glass by heating and shaking it. Twisting the glass down and lowering it to its proper position will come after the test and covering the lens. This isn’t very good for small lenses, but we like the big ones. Too much.

Introduce the idea of ​​using liquids to make lenses at a spacing of 10x – 100x the size. And it takes less time to make them than a glass tape.

The FLUTE, or Fluidic Telescope Experiment, is being run by lead researcher Edward Balaban at the Ames Research Center in California’s Silicon Valley. The participants in the experiment were researchers in Ames at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, with researchers from Technion, the Israel Institute of Technology.

Their goal is to make liquid lenses in space not only larger than their glass counterparts, but as high -quality and more optically efficient as possible. making a ground lens. And this can be done in a fraction of the time.

These oils were burned in circuits as large amounts of money were spent when the plane crashed, and researchers were able to make free -standing water glasses, even though when the plane restarted and the effects of gravity were felt. the body of water is lost.

The experiment will take place on the ISS (International Space Station) and is on board the ship, awaiting the arrival of Axiom-1 with Mission Specialist Eytan Stibbe assigned to conduct the experiment. There they will combine the steps of using UV light or temperature to make the water harder to see and the lenses will be tested by researchers at Ames on Earth.

The optical test is the first time an optical device has been made in space. If successful, it would be the beginning of a new way to build telescopes, out of space. This changes the way the space is made and greatly reduces the time it takes to build one. And the features that we will see.
