(CNN) – On Good Friday 2017, Wyatt Werneth called his wife, who went to the grocery store with their daughter: The car broke down. Please save us.
Werneth jumped in his car to help, being driven by Patrick Space Force Base near Cape Canaveral, Florida. From the A1A, Werneth said you can see the ocean.
What he later saw was a twist of impact that led to a very quick rescue.
“I could see someone rolling the car as I walked. … I pulled in to see what was going on; I had an immediate idea that something was going on in the car. water, ”Werneth told CNN Travel.
“When I went over the berm, I didn’t know what to get into. There were a lot of people in the water.”
And they were troubled. very serious problem. Eliminate this kind of problem.
This scene will send fear into someone’s spine – but Werneth is ready. He is an experienced health care instructor and has water safety equipment.
But with five men fighting in the Atlantic Ocean, how could he save them all?
The numbers are disastrous
It is estimated that 3,960 unexpected deaths occur each year in the United States (including canoe accidents). That’s an average of 11 deaths a day.
The public washes the sea and sands of South Beach in Miami. Florida is No. 4 deaths per 100,000 people in the United States. It is important to understand how to enjoy open water safely.

From 2015 to 2019, the states with the highest mortality rate per 100,000 people:
Then there were even more undead deaths. The CDC tells people living in a drought crisis that there are many consequences: “From not suffering to serious injuries or to chronic disability.”
The risk of these deaths is high and injuries can be prevented, experts say. What can you do to enjoy the water – be it the ocean, a river, a lake or a swimming pool – safely and not with the dead? Turns out, a lot.
Who is the most troubled?

It is important to know who is more likely to die. Problem groups need more attention. Some of them in the United States:
• Small groups: The death toll for Native Americans or Alaskans is 29 or more than twice as high as for Whites. For blacks, the number is higher than for whites.
Water protection tips
The children receive a swimming lesson at a YMCA in Memphis, Tennessee. Research shows that participating in regular swimming lessons reduces the risk of death.

However, “children who receive swimming lessons need to be constantly monitored when they are in or out of the water,” the department wrote. Don’t be embarrassed by TV, books or the phone to watch children in the water.
If you drink alcoholic beverages, leave the water and do not go to the canoe. Disaster can lead to poor decision making and slow consequences.
People in canoes and weak swimmers, especially in open water, should wear life clothes.
And watch the weather. Leave if there is thunder or rain.

Be aware of the waters you are entering. Different bodies of water carry different types of hazards.
THE FLAG OF THE SEA
These currents are flowing from the shore. They are often formed when they break in sands and near crevices and rocky necks.
• Sit quietly. The current will not pull you under the water but will sweep you away from the beach.
• Don’t swim. Try to escape by “swimming out of the pool on a path that follows the beach,” the USLA said. You can probably escape by floating or stepping on the water and swimming outside.
• If you are in trouble, shout or wave for help.
If you are not educated, do not try to save yourself. Find a lifeguard, call 911 or throw a flying saucer in their path. Direct the person to swim like the beach to escape.

Piping and other works on the rivers were popular. However, currents and obstructions under the skin or debris can be a problem.
Werneth says research the river before you enter.
Private water boats line the beach at Blue Marsh Lake near Reading, Pennsylvania. In that state, you must have a Boating Education Certificate in your right to do one. The U.S. Coast Guard says you should wear protective clothing while sailing. Also, don’t get up and drink alcohol before working out.

INSIDE AND INSIDE
I WANT TO SWIMMING
And if your kids know how to swim, parents need to keep an eye on the watch. Keep the flies on hand.
Lack of public health care

Werneth said the group’s motto was “swim in front of a lifeguard.” But he said the reality of the inadequacy demanded something new: “Learn to swim, America.”
“We want people to take care of themselves. Choose someone from your family to be a water guard. Teach that person CPR.”
And if anyone can’t swim and still wants to bark, “put a life jacket over them.
After 2017 on that Florida beach, Werneth’s work was tough. But he had a nice head, years of experience – and even better, a second degree of technical assistance in the hands he later learned from the Air Force.
“He was pulling people alone before I got there … kind of from that Air Force man alone. I knew there was some kind of unknown, and I quickly jumped into the water. ., swam out, grabbed the one who did not know and brought him out. “
Werneth thought they were about 50 yards away, and he recalled that they pulled five young men out of the water. They weren’t wearing swimwear, Werneth said, leading him to think it was a quick decision to get into the ocean.
Did the group die without rescue, and was he tired?
“I assure you they all have … These people are going to help each other, and it’s made a chain.
“It was the right time I showed up and got there to help those people.” Because the family car was broken. But not everyone can rely on luck.
In the end, you need “water confidence,” to have an understanding and appreciation of water.
“Fear is what triggers anxiety that leads to death.”
