(CNN) — A Canadian company has unveiled plans for an all-electric motorcycle that can travel at 1,000 kilometers per hour and, it says, cost less than a plane ticket to ride.
FluxJet was unveiled by TransPod in its home city of Toronto last month, with a scaled-down one-tonne version of the so-called “plane-train hybrid” offering a live demonstration of its be able to.
It is based on the same principles as the “hyperloop” concept made famous by the American entrepreneur Elon Musk: FluxJet will be moved at very high speeds along a protected pipeline using technology groundbreaking about a new field of physics called “veillance flux.”
TransPod expects Fluxjet to be in service by 2035.
The pods are magnetically suspended and the net pipes allow them to travel at high speeds.
The idea is that the train will only run on a network system called the TransPod Line, with stations in major cities and key areas.
The first phase is expected to be a $ 18 billion project involving the Canadian cities of Calgary and Edmonton – about 300 kilometers apart, or a three-hour drive.
FluxJet boasts that the travel speed is faster than the plane and three times that of the high-speed train, which means it cuts the travel time to 45 minutes.
TransPod hopes it will reduce highway traffic and cut carbon emissions.
Earlier this year TransPod announced that it received $550 million in funding for the effort. The project is currently in the research and development phase, focusing on environmental assessment and land acquisition.
Sebastien Gendron, founder and CEO of TransPod, told CNN “The first phase of construction is the connection of the Edmonton airport, which is planned to start at the end of 2023, and with a full line connecting Calgary to Edmonton in 2027. .”
The site will carry 54 cars and 10 tons of cargo at a time on FluxJet vehicles, with trains departing every two minutes, according to TransPod information.
The company says the new system will help cut highway traffic, and reduce CO2 emissions by around 636,000 tonnes per year.
He said that flying the FluxJet will cost about 44% less than a plane ticket for the same trip, but without the announced time for when the public expects it. travel on a FluxJet, or other cities to be represented in this multi-billion. -dollar network, those ideas are known to have a lot to do with the outcome of the next few years.
A service between Dubai and Abu Dhabi is being discussed.
According to TransPod, its focus is on first-in-the-world designs and technological advances and is “developing every aspect of a new pipeline management system, from the design of the systems, from the ground up, in the house and our. partners.”
Magnetically suspended Fluxjet trains shoot their guided tracks using aerodynamic and propulsion systems designed to reduce friction. According to TransPod, “it’s like speeding down a runway, then going full speed in a pipeline.”
Gendron told CNN that his company expects FluxJet to take its first passenger cars before 2035. And for plans outside of Calgary-Edmonton, he said, “Discussions are underway at Texas will connect Dallas to San Antonio, in the UAE it will connect Dubai to Abu Dhabi and in Australia it will connect Sydney to Brisbane.”
