Air Nostrum, which operates aircraft under the Iberia Regional umbrella from its Valencia fleet, has ordered 10 Airlander 10 aircraft, with delivery scheduled for 2026.
Manufactured by UK-based Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV), the aircraft can cut emissions by 90%, according to the company.
Powered by helium and electric power, they can occupy 100 cars, and typically fly 300-400 kilometers (186-249 miles), according to the manufacturer. Don’t expect lightning to fly, though – the top speed is 80 mph (129 kph).
After six months of “critical study and modeling” of local Spanish roads, according to the manufacturer.

The airplane was known as the ‘flying plane.’

According to HAV in the future, short -haul routes for the flight could include Liverpool to Belfast (168 miles), Seattle to Vancouver (127 miles), and Oslo to Stockholm (263 miles). The airline can make cruises, as it does not need an airport to reach the ground – beaches, green spaces and unused airports are designated by HAV.
“The Airlander doesn’t need the airport to work. HAV is looking for new jobs with Air Nostrum,” a statement told CNN.
The lake is more beautiful than traditional airports, with a 1-2-1 layout, some seats facing each other, and shiny walls that show off the land below. For those who want to know where they are going, flying at an altitude of 20,000 feet.

The cushy side is a step away from the standard air seats.

Air Nostrum President Carlos Bertomeu has said the aircraft will help his business meet the European Union’s “Fit for 55” goals of cutting emissions by at least 55% by 2030.
“The Airlander 10 will significantly reduce emissions and for that reason we have entered into this agreement with HAV,” he said in a statement. “Continuity … it is certainly impossible to discuss the day -to -day operations of the commercial aircraft.
“Agreements like this are an excellent way to achieve the de-carbonization goals envisaged in the Fit for 55 legislative initiative.”
HAV CEO Tom Grundy added: “As countries such as France, Denmark, Norway, Spain and the UK begin to impose ambitious orders for aircraft decarbonization and short -haul flight, Hybrid Air Vehicles and the Air Nostrum Group are showing how we can get there – and get there quickly.
“Airlander is designed to provide a better future for sustainable airline services, access to new transportation services and provide faster growth options for our customers.”
HAV will begin building the fleet this year, operating 1,800 jobs in Yorkshire, UK.
The company said it was working on “further developments in power generation,” and hoped the Airlander 10 would become the first major aircraft to achieve zero-emissions flight.
