Leaving the news is kind of a topic. Now amid the sad news from the war in Ukraine, many want to dismiss the news or less.
A recent research article looks at news prevention as a rapidly changing media technology. The article conducts interviews with nearly 500 500 media clients in Finland, Argentina, Israel, Japan, and the United States.
The article provides a comprehensive and nuanced picture of the causes and practices of news prevention in different cultural contexts. The critical debate over news coverage is not only about personal factors, but also physical and sociocultural factors. The article distinguishes between two main factors that influence news prevention: mental and emotional. The concepts are presented in specific areas of the country and the context, while the principles of prevention of the news are shared by people in different countries.
An example of avoiding the news is about a special time and events surrounding President Donald Trump. In the United States, but also in Finland, Trump’s constant exposure to the news kept people away from the news, because they were fed up with hearing Trump. In Israel, then, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has done similar things.
An important factor in preventing cognitive news is that the break from the news is not always consistent because it is relevant to a person, time period, or event. Given the current events, the COVID-19 epidemic and the war in Ukraine can be assumed to make people tired of the news and therefore the reason to avoid cognitive news.
Leaving the news is about the constant benefits of the news, that is, their bad nature. The news is about pleasant and unpleasant things, such as serious disasters, wars, attacks, and natural disasters.
Instead of being tired of the news, facing the news reveals different thoughts and feelings such as fear, sadness, and disgust. Therefore, defending the news is often done in self -defense, a desire to avoid heavy stress. The study also found that young adults (18 to 34 years old) were more resistant to the news. As for the war in Ukraine, leaving the news becomes heartbreaking and heartbreaking.
