Good news for those leaving Thailand! Starting May 1st, it will be easy (or hard) to visit the Land of Smiles!

But of course, like everything else, Thailand has implemented a security plan to protect its citizens and foreigners. Thailand Pass QR Code. This is necessary for travelers to arrive by air and by land.

  • The Thailand Pass QR Code is necessary for those traveling by air and by land only. For those traveling by sea, call the nearest Thai embassy / consulate from your place of birth for admission and other requirements.
  • Your travel requirements when traveling to Thailand will depend on your medical condition and specific location.

What is covered in this guide?

Depending on your medical status and your trip, there are different entry options for international travelers who want to visit Thailand. Parts and requirements change frequently for each person so it is best to visit the official website for more information and more details.

But to give you a brief overview, here are the requirements:

If going ON or AFTER May 1, 2022

For registered travelers

  • Thailand Pass registration
  • valid passport
  • Certification
  • Insurance with a minimum of 10,000 USD cover for medical expenses in Thailand (for non -Thai trips only). Note that this is reduced from the $ 20,000 required for those traveling before May 1st.

The COVID-19 test is not required.

For those who don’t travel

OPTION A. Travelers with poor RT-PCR test result released within 72 hours prior to the trip to state the following:

  • Thailand Pass registration
  • valid passport
  • The negative RT-PCR test result was released within 72 hours prior to the trip
  • Insurance with a minimum of 10,000 USD cover for medical expenses in Thailand (for non -Thai trips only).
  • NOTES: The COVID-19 test was not performed again after arrival in Thailand.

OPTION B. The trips cannot show the RT-PCR test result within 72 hours prior to the trip or those wishing to be separated must leave the following:

  • Thailand Pass registration
  • valid passport
  • Alternative Quarantine (AQ) hotel quarantine for 5 days (with 1 RT-PCR test)
  • Insurance with a minimum of 10,000 USD cover for medical expenses in Thailand (for non -Thai trips only).
  • RECOMMENDATIONS: RT -PCR testing should be performed on days 4 – 5 of mandatory quarantine.

If going before May 1, 2022

Here are three entry options for travelers from around the world who want to visit Thailand.

Test Program & GO

Detained visitors going to Thailand in the air they are suitable for this project. Travelers who had a poor RT-PCR test result on their previous COVID-19 test could travel to other parts of Thailand.

On day five, travelers are required to take a self -contained Antigen Testing Kit (ATK) test. The test result must be displayed using the Mor Chana mobile app, so you will need to download it.

Passengers under this program must keep the following in mind:

  • SHA Extra Plus or AQ overnight hotel reservation is charged
  • Airport shuttle to hotel
  • One RT-PCR test should be taken on day 1
  • One personal ATK test must be taken on day 5 (if staying in Thailand for more than five days)
  • Proof of flight for departure (if staying less than five nights)

The Blue Fog Box Project

The red sandboxes, called Sandboxes, are places in Thailand where about 70% of the total population is recorded. Detained visitors going to Thailand in the air they are suitable for this project. Visitors are required to stay in the Sanbox locations for five days, but they must have a negative result from the first RT-PCR test before they can travel into the Blue Zone. .

On day five, travelers are required to take a self -contained Antigen Testing Kit (ATK) test. After having a bad experience, tourists can explore other parts of Thailand. The test result must be displayed using the Mor Chana mobile app, so you will need to download it.

Passengers under this program must keep the following in mind:

  • SHA Extra Plus hotel reservation is available for 5 nights in the Sandbox
  • Airport shuttle to hotel
  • One RT-PCR test will be performed on day 1
  • You will have your own ATK test taken on day 5 (if you have lived in Thailand for more than five days)
  • Proof of flight for departure (if staying less than five nights)

Sandbox locations include Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, Phang-Nga, and Surat Thani. You can check out the full list of Blue Zone Sandbox locations on the Thai Empire’s official website.

Look! As of writing, travelers to Ko Samui, Ko Pha-ngan, and Ko Tao must take the first RT-PCR test upon arrival at Samui International Airport.

Other Graduate Programs

Also known as Happy Quarantine, Alternative Quarantine is a program or program for unaccompanied or part -time trips as well as tourists entering Thailand BY COUNTRY. Travelers must stay in a government -approved quarantine hotel for five (5) days.

Other Quarantine hotels often include the following:

  • Stay 5 nights at a government -approved AQ hotel or similar.
  • Air transfers
  • 24-hour medical / health care
  • Full course (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • COVID-19 tests
  • Other services (related to hotel promotion / delivery)

As you can see above, not all trips need to show a housekeeping bond. However, depending on your travel date and medical status, you may need to send confirmation that your booking has been confirmed with a government -approved SHA (Safety and Health Administration) Extra Plus hotel. or an AQ (Alternative Quarantine) hotel. This must be verified by the system in order to secure a Thailand Pass.

2. Register for Thailand Pass.

All tourists must apply for a QR Code Thailand Pass. Go to the Thailand Pass registration website.

You must register within seven (7) to 60 days before you leave.

3. Enter your Booking ID.

  1. In the information section for booking a hotel, select the “Booking with Agoda” box.
  2. Skip to the Booking ID field (line three) and provide your Booking ID.
  3. All other fields will be filled in by entering your Booking ID. Then click the “View my subscription” button.

Voila! You will receive your registration confirmation soon.

View: If you do not have a requirement or document (flight or COVID-19 test), you will receive a letter. You will need to complete the payment verification for the document you are missing. In order to avoid problems and other steps, make sure you have a pre-existing room package during the flight and RT-PCR test.

It will be allowed for seven (7) days. You can check your email for the approved application and your Thailand Pass QR Code.


  • Complete hotel test options, including airway imaging service and RT-PCR test (if applicable).

  • Immediately notify your application for Thailand Pass for missing documents.

SHA Extra Plus

The SHA (Safety and Health Administration) Plus Certification is led by the Tourism Authority of Thailand to ensure the maintenance of high safety standards to protect locals and tourists while keeping the industry afloat. Thai travel.

  • SHA Extra Plus hotels or residences are eligible, with at least 70% of employees fully enrolled in COVID-19, organized by Amazing Thailand SHA Plus .
  • Assets with Extra Plus (SHA ++) certifications are those with host companies that can serve an RT-PCR test.
  • SHA Extra Plus hotels and accommodations can be booked by FULLY VACCINATED tourists traveling to Thailand.
  • For those traveling before May 1, the Test & Go package must include an RT-PCR test and an Antigen Test Kit (ATK), and the Blue Zone Sandbox package must include the test. RT-PCR.

Other Status (AQ)

Alternative Quarantine is a treaty process carried out at government -certified quarantine hotels in Thailand.

  • AQ hotels or residences are government -approved. They liaise with selected hospitals to administer contract services. All expenses are on the shoulders.
  • AQ hotels or apartments can be booked by UNVACCINATED tourists traveling to Thailand. The quarantine period is five (5) nights, beginning the next day.
  • Must include the traditional 5-day AQ package: full board (three meals a day), flight to hotel, online babysitting, free Wi-Fi, and COVID-19 trials.
  • Check with the hotel for other services such as meals, consultation with a doctor, etc.
